Describe a person who enjoys cooking for others

You should say:

  • Who the person is
  • What they like to cook
  • Who they cook for

And explain why you think they enjoy cooking

a person who loves to cook“My mom would have to be the person I know who really loves cooking. She’s an absolute whiz in the kitchen and just loves cooking delicious meals for her family and friends.

One of her favourite things to make is a big Sunday roast dinner, and you can usually smell it wafting in from the kitchen. She also loves experimenting with foods from around the world, so you can always count on her to be whipping up something tasty and unusual!

I think that what makes her so passionate about cooking is that it always puts a smile on people’s faces. Seeing how much her family and friends appreciate her cooking is what drives her to create and come up with new recipes.

Some of her friends even joke that she should’ve been a professional chef. She’s always ready to give cooking advice to anyone who asks and she loves passing her knowledge onto others. She also likes to watch cooking shows on television and take bits and pieces from them when she’s creating her own dishes.

I’m pretty sure my mom actually finds cooking therapeutic and relaxing. She loves experimenting with different ingredients and flavours, and I think it soothes and relaxes her.

It’s like a challenge for her to come up with something delicious every time, and I think it’s just one of the many things that makes her enjoy it so much.

Thank you.”

  • Idioms

The idiom “to be a whiz” means to be exceptionally good at something or to excel at something. For example, “My brother is a whiz at maths, and he can solve equations in his head faster than anyone I know.”

To waft is an idiom meaning to move gently, typically in the air. An example sentence of this idiom would be: “The smell of freshly baked bread wafted through the kitchen.

The idiom “whip up” means to create something quickly and enthusiastically. For example,I whipped up a delicious pasta dish for dinner in less than 30 minutes.”

The idiom “to put a smile on someone’s face” means to do something that makes someone feel happy or pleased. Example sentence: She gave him a big hug to put a smile on his face.

Do people in your country usually prefer to cook at home or eat outside?

Well, I guess generally speaking, most people in Vietnam prefer to cook at home. Home cooking is often more economical and traditional dishes can be prepared with fresh, local produce, which is usually a healthier option than eating in a restaurant.

Having said that, many people do actually eat outside, and restaurants are often very affordable even for those on a tight budget. What’s more, many people, especially the younger generation lead very busy lives, and very often have to work late into the evening, and don’t have the time to cook at home.

I guess from time to time, just about everyone enjoys  eating out, as  it’s also great for socialising and exploring the many delicious cuisines of Vietnam.”

Do you think that cooking is an important skill for young people to learn?

describe a person who likes to cook“Yes, I think cooking is an extremely important life skill for young people to learn. People will benefit from gaining knowledge on how to cook healthy meals, as they’ll be able to make good food choices for themselves and their families.

On top of that, It’s also a great way to save money, as eating out all the time can get very expensive.

As well as that, It can also be an enjoyable activity that can be a great way to bond with family or friends.

On the other hand, some kids may not have the interest or time to learn how to cook, as it can be quite time-consuming. However, I still believe that ultimately it’s a vital skill to have that will have a very positive impact on one’s life.”

What are some differences between cooking at home and eating out in a restaurant?

“I guess cooking at home and eating out both have their own advantages. Cooking at home is great because you can control all the ingredients and healthfulness of the meal, and of course it’s usually cheaper than eating out.

On the other hand, eating out is normally more convenient and allows you to sample cuisine you may not often make at home, or even know how to make.

On top of that, eating out also creates a sense of occasion that you don’t necessarily get from cooking at home, such as taking someone out for a romantic dinner or celebrating with friends.

Ultimately, I think it depends on your personal preferences and budget which one works best for you.”

Is cooking an important part of celebrating traditional festivals in your country?

describe a person who likts to cook for others“In Vietnam, cooking plays a massive part in celebrating traditional festivals. People go all out for festivals like Tet, cooking everything from spring rolls to bánh chưng.

As well as that, people also like to get together to cook as a big group, as it’s a great chance to connect and show their hospitality.

Dishes vary from region to region and are rich with symbolic meanings, like picking ingredients that represent luck and health.

The downside is that it’s a lot of work and takes a lot of planning, so it can be a bit overwhelming. But there’s nothing quite like coming together to create amazing meals for your loved ones.”
