a foreigner who speaks your language very well“I know this amazing foreigner who can speak Chinese like a native! His name is John, and I used to actually work with him. He’s from Canada but moved to China years ago to pursue his love for Chinese culture and language. For him, learning Chinese was like second nature.

At first, John started by picking up the basics through online tutorials. He then made the commitment to become truly immersed in the language, so he stayed in China for a few months and started to take formal Chinese classes. I guess because of his dedication and hard work, John was able to master the language within a short period of time. Now, he can speak, read, and write Chinese fluently, which is absolutely amazing. He can even use Chinese idioms and slang just like a native.

I think John is really inspiring because he learned Chinese from scratch and managed to develop an aptitude for it. What’s more, being able to speak Chinese so well has enabled him to blend in with locals and experience the culture in an even deeper way.

I’m really proud of John for taking his love of Chinese culture to heart and mastering the language. He is living proof that anyone can learn to speak a new language with hard work and dedication!

Thank you.”

  • idioms

The idiom “like second nature” means something that is so familiar or routine that it feels natural. For example: “After years of playing guitar, switching chords became like second nature.”

To start from scratch means starting from the very beginning.

Example: He had to start the project from scratch after realising that the instructions he received were wrong.

To blend in means to be able to successfully adapt to a new situation or group of people by looking and behaving like other members of the group. Example: In order to fit in at her new school, Liz tried to blend in with the other students.

To take something to heart means to take something seriously and feel it deeply. For example: “After hearing her friend’s advice, she took it to heart and decided to try harder to do better in school.”

The idiom living proof means to be a real example or demonstration of something. Example sentence: His ability to play the piano flawlessly is living proof of his remarkable talent.

Describe  a foreigner who speaks your native language very well – IELTS speaking part 3

Do many people in your country learn to speak a second language?

“Yes, absolutely. In Vietnam, so many people, especially the younger generation learn a second language mostly for educational and career reasons.

For example, because English is the most commonly used international language, a lot of young people choose to learn it so that they can have an easier access to further educational opportunities abroad.

As well as that, the ability to communicate in a foreign language has become more and more valuable in the job market.

Personally speaking, I view being able to speak a second language as a great asset and beneficial for both personal and professional growth.”

Do you think it’s important for children to learn a second language?

a foreign person who speaks your native language very well“Yeah, I definitely think it’s important for kids to pick up a second language from a young age.

It opens up a lot of opportunities for them, like understanding other cultures as well as increasing their job prospects, and even help to improve a child’s academic performance.

Plus, learning a second language can help strengthen problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Overall,I believe it’s definitely a great idea to introduce children to a new language!”

Do you think that technology has had an effect on the way we learn a new language?

Yes, technology has had a massive effect on the way we learn a new language. For example, there are so many language-learning apps available that make language lessons, and interactive exercises so much easier to access.

As well as that, being able to watch and listen to native speakers use the language in movies or tv shows can also be a big help.

What’s more, online forums, tutorials, and translation apps make finding help and understanding the language so much easier than in the past.

In my opinion, technology has been a great asset in the language learning process, and gives just about everyone in the world access to learn a new language.”

What are some benefits of learning a second language?

I believe that learning a second language has a ton of benefits! For example, it can open up a whole new world of cultural experiences, and you can gain a more in-depth understanding of a foreign culture’s literature, music, food, and more.

On top of that, speaking more than one language can do wonders for your career! Many employers are impressed by candidates that speak more than one language, plus you can have the opportunity to work in other countries if you have bilingual skills.

Personally, I think being able to navigate more than one language and culture is a really rewarding experience!”
