IELTS speaking part 1 Money
Do you prefer to save money or save it?
“Honestly, I’d much rather save money than spend it. Having some savings gives me a sense of security and makes me feel responsible. As well as that, having a little extra cash for a rainy day or any unexpected expenses gives me peace of mind. Saving is definitely my preferred choice!”
“Honestly, I love spending money, as it makes me feel good and allows me to enjoy life. What’s more,I find that saving money can be a bit tedious. But of course, I know the importance of saving for the future, so I do try to find a balance between the two. After all, you only live once, right?”
Did you learn to save money when you were a child?
“Yes, actually,I did learn to save money when I was a little kid. My parents taught me the value of money from a young age and how important it is to save for the future. I remember my parents giving me a piggy bank when I was about 5 or 6, andI used to feel proud and responsible whenever I saved even a little bit of money.”
“Honestly, I didn’t really learn to save money when I was a kid. My parents always took care of things and I never had to worry about finances. However, now, as an adult, I realise the importance of saving and it makes me feel responsible and proud.”
Did you get pocket money when you were a child?
“Yes, I did get some pocket money when I was a little kid and I absolutely loved it! It made me feel independent and responsible, and I was able to save up for things I really wanted. It was a great feeling having my own money to spend.”
“As a child, I used to get a little pocket money every week, and it made me feel responsible and independent. I remember I used to save it up to buy treats or small toys that I wanted. Looking back, it was a small amount, but it meant a lot to me.”
Is money important to you?
“Yeah absolutely, money is super important to me. I mean, it’s not everything, but it definitely makes life easier. Being able to afford the things I want and having financial stability just feels good. Plus, I love being able to treat myself and my loved ones every once in a while. So yes, money definitely matters to me.”
“I don’t think that money is the most important thing in life, but it definitely plays a significant role. Without it, it would be difficult to live comfortably, pursue my hobbies and passions, or provide for my family. I don’t obsess over money, but I do appreciate its importance in achieving my personal goals and happiness.”
Do you ever use an app to pay for things?
“Oh totally! Apps make everything so easy and convenient. I love not having to deal with cash or cards, and just using my phone to pay for things. It’s definitely my go-to for payments, especially when I’m in a rush or feeling lazy.”
“Yes, I do! I love using apps to pay for things, as it’s so convenient and makes shopping a breeze. As well as that, I feel secure knowing my information is safe, and I never have to bother carrying cash with me. It’s definitely become a staple in my life and I can’t imagine living without it!”
Do you think that cash will be popular in the future?
“Personally, I don’t think cash will continue to be popular in the future. With the rise of digital payments and technology, it’s becoming less convenient and more risky to carry physical money. Plus, it feels kind of old-fashioned!”
Do you ever use a credit/debit card to buy anything?
“Yes, I do use credit cards occasionally to pay for things when I don’t have enough cash on hand or to pay for something online. While it can be convenient, I do try to be cautious and only use it for necessary purchases to avoid overspending and debt.”
“Actually, as a student, I don’t have a credit card, and honestly, I prefer not to use credit cards for my purchases. I like to stick to cash or debit cards to avoid getting into any debt.”
