Part 1 questions

  • Q. Do you enjoy watching movies?

“Yes, I do….I love watching movies, and watch movies as much as possible.

  • What kinds of movies do you like?

“To be honest, if it’s a good movie, i will watch anything, but i guess if i had to choose, it would be action and adventure movies.

  • Do you prefer to watch a movie at home or in the cinema?

“It depends….If its a big budget action or sci-fi movie with lots of special effects, I will always try to see it on the big screen in a cinema. However, if it’s a  movie that concentrates more on the plot, I rather watch it at home, as I find it easier to follow the plot.

Describe a movie that you would  like to see again- Part 2

Describe a movie you enjoyed.

You should say;

  • What it was
  • When you watched it
  • What it was about

And explain why you enjoyed it

describe a movie you enjoyed“Just recently I watched a great  movie called Heat for the second time, which has to be one of the greatest action or crime movies of all time.

I watched it last saturday night at home, as there was nothing worth watching on the TV, so i decided to see what movies were up on Netflix. It was a pretty easy choice, and as my wife hadn’t seen it before, I really wanted to introduce one of my all time favourite movies to her.

This is a  movie with a really amazing cast, including acting legends such as, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and more, which makes it a must watch for me. It was directed by Michael Mann, another Hollywood legend, who is very famous for his action movies.

The movie is about a gang of very professional bank robbers, led by Robert De Niro who plan on robbing one more bank before retiring, and the police officer played by Al Pacino trying to track them down.

I guess the main reason I love this movie so much is that it stars so many of my favourite actors, who all give an amazing performance throughout the movie.

Another great thing about the  movie is that although it is action packed, with some really incredible action scenes……. It still has a really great, and very intelligent plot, which is something I think so many action movies today don’t have.

Heat is  most definitely one of my all time favourite movies, and I think it will always be a classic Hollywood action movie that every movie fan should watch at least once.

Oh! I almost forgot to mention that my wife also loved the movie and was happy I suggested she watch it.

That’s it, thank you……

Notes:

If you look at how i talked about and described the movie, you should be able to notice that i did not go into much detail on what the movie was about. This can be a very difficult thing to do in any language, and can also lead to problems with cohesion which will of course lower your band score. This is an example of where you need to learn to talk around topics, and remember that part 2 is still about you.

Part 3 questions – Describe a move that you watched recently

  • Q.Why do you think some people prefer to watch a movie in the cinema rather than at home?

describe a movie that you would like to watch again“I think for a lot of people seeing a movie, especially a big budget action movie on the big screen, is a totally different experience than watching it on a small tv screen at home. On top of that, going to the cinema with friends is also a kind of social event, and a lot of people enjoy making an evening of it.

Having said that, I think a lot of people actually prefer to watch movies at home these days, as going to the cinema can be a little expensive, and online streaming sites such as Netflix have really encouraged this.”

  • Q. Should films and television be censored or should we be free to choose what we see?

“I think yes….certainly, there must be some kind of censorship in place to firstly protect people from any embarrassment or any offensive material that may appear in a film or TV show. Furthermore, it’s very important to protect young children from seeing things that could be unsuitable or even shocking to them, especially with the wide access they have to different forms of media today.

Mind you….. I believe it is still important to give artists and directors the freedom to express themselves through movies or TV shows, so it’s also crucial not to over censor everything, and try to find that balance or happy medium.

Q.What are some differences between reading a book or watching the book in movie form?

“Personally, I believe there are some differences….. First and foremost, I believe that reading the book forces us to use our imaginations more than watching a movie. On top of that, we get to form our own detailed picture of the story’s central character. However, reading a book can be difficult at times, and I believe that many people abandon it before finishing it because it takes a long time.

On the other hand, watching a movie is simple and allows us to save a lot of time, which I believe is important to many people in the information age. Furthermore, while watching a movie, we are able to multitask and do other things such as work on an assignment or prepare dinner.”
