IELTS Exam Speaking Topics and More

A brief overview of the IELTS speaking exam.

Part 1:

The IELTS examiner will introduce himself or herself and will ask you to introduce yourself and confirm your identity before moving on to part 1 topics.  The examiner will then ask you general questions about topics that you are familiar with, such as your home, family, work, studies, and interests, among other things. This section might also assist you in relaxing and speaking in a natural way.

 

Part 2:

The examiner will hand you a topic card, on which you will be asked to speak about a specific topic, as well as specific points to include in your speech. You will have one minute to prepare and make notes before you begin. After that, you will be asked to speak for 1-2 minutes on the topic. Since you will not be interrupted during this time, it is critical that you continue speaking. The examiner will then possibly  ask you one or two questions that are related to the topic you just talked about.

 

Part 3:

The examiner will ask you additional questions that are related to the topic of Part 2.  It is the objective of these questions to provide you with an opportunity to discuss more abstract issues and opinion
